Abstract

Obesity is defined by the analysis of the body mass of the individual and its diagnosis is made when it's (BMI) is greater than or equal to 30 kg / m 2. It is a chronic disease, epidemic, and multifactorial origin. This work has as a general objective to perform a literature survey on the main topics of behavioral factors that may trigger obesity, as well as, in specific, write about the nutritional transition and report how sitting and poor lifestyle habits can trigger obesity and other chronic diseases. This is a literature review conducted from data in Pubmes and BVS, with articles published between 2015 and 2021. In this sense, considering the many changes in eating patterns and lifestyle habits, sedentary lifestyle, and overconsumption of foods rich in saturated fats and carbohydrates, the main triggering factor of this pathology is the behavioral factor. Nowadays, obesity can be considered a public health problem because, besides being more and more frequent in age groups, the development of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemias, and cardiovascular diseases are increasingly associated due to overweight and physical inactivity. Given what was described in the study, it is necessary to develop control and educational campaigns to guide society about the evils of obesity.
