ANÁLISE DA RESISTÊNCIA BACTERIANA DESENVOLVIDA PELA ESCHERICHIA COLI: AS QUINOLONAS NO TRATAMENTO DA INFECÇÃO URINÁRIA
Abstract
Introduction: Bacteria become resistant to antibiotics through various mechanisms, bringing serious consequences to the health of the population, such as increased mortality rates or development of sequelae, in addition to promoting increased cost of treatment, either by the increasing value of drugs or by the need for longer hospitalization, showing all its potential for generating extreme social, economic and public health problems. Thus, we can see that bacterial resistance is becoming a serious problem all over the world, and it must be fought and tackled on several fronts. Likewise, the large increase in the use of quinolone antibiotics, self-medication, and the incorrect use of these drugs, often indiscriminately, explain the increase in bacteria resistant to these drugs. Objective: To evaluate the current resistance to quinolones by Escherichia coli bacteria in cases of urinary tract infection and which are the most effective antibacterials at the moment. Method: This will be field research conducted in a clinical analysis laboratory located in the city of Sousa, the interior of the state of Paraíba, where data will be collected from antimicrobial susceptibility tests (ASR), also called antibiograms, performed in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 in this health service, with the population of this research being represented by patients with possible urinary tract infection who went to the chosen laboratory seeking laboratory diagnostic confirmation in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
