HIPERTENSÃO ARTERIAL EM CRIANÇAS E ADOLESCENTES NO BRASIL: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DA LITERATURA
Abstract
Introduction: Although hypertension is more commonly observed in adults, this problem is also a reality for children and adolescents. It is observed that, in most pediatric consultations, these measurements and investigations are not performed, causing an underreporting of the disease in children and adolescents in Brazil. Objectives: To carry out an integrative review aimed at analyzing the main records published on Systemic Arterial Hypertension in children and adolescents in Brazil, as well as the main causes described and the consequences of the disease. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, seeking to analyze and synthesize relevant original studies already published on the investigated theme through the PubMed, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) platforms. Inclusion criteria were: articles addressing the causes, consequences, treatment, and age range of hypertension in children and adolescents, written in English or Portuguese, and carried out in Brazil. The exclusion criteria were: studies outside Brazil, literature reviews and case studies, and repeated articles. Results: The present research demonstrated the importance of care and orientation of the health professional about Systemic Arterial Hypertension in children and adolescents leading to the visibility of this theme.
