Abstract
Agriculture has been evolving since the beginning of humanity, new technologies emerge in accordance with the needs of society. Increasingly, the issue of preserving existing natural resources for the access of future generations is present in the studies developed and in the adoption of new irrigation techniques. In citriculture, proper water management makes all the difference in the final quality of the fruit and the quantity produced. The present research aimed to carry out a survey of advances in agriculture over time, specifically, the techniques used in citrus irrigation. The study used a literature review, because it allows the author to come into contact with a range of materials on the subject allowing greater familiarity with the problem. It was concluded that, gradually, the agriculture sector is concerned with the scarcity of natural resources and the development of new technologies to meet the existing demands in quality and quantity of products. Regarding citrus, localized irrigation techniques are more suitable for production, as they allow a rational use of water resources and facilitate phytosanitary control. Although they require a greater investment from the farmer at the beginning, the results are satisfactory.
