This paper presents a systematic review of polypropylene or poly(vinyl acetate) matrix composites and nanocomposites, reinforced with different types of lignocellulosic fibers, comparing their properties with those of their polymeric matrices. The selection of publications was carried out using PICO criteria (Population, Intervention and Comparison) and a systematic review protocol in the area of Materials Science and Engineering. According to exclusion criteria, after screening the data, 4, 6 and 24 studies were selected from the Google Scholar, Scopus and Web of Science databases, respectively. In addition, other publications related to the topic were added. This review raises questions for further research, with new aspects, including the use of other compatibilizing agents competing with maleated polypropylene - MAPP.
