A CURTA DURAÇÃO DO SONO E O SEU IMPACTO NEGATIVO NA OBESIDADE: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Abstract
Introduction: Obesity is a pathology that can be defined by a Body Mass Index (BMI) above what is considered normal, and its prevalence in recent decades is on the rise. Along with this factor, there is also an increase in the number of people who have a short sleep duration. Studies are increasingly evaluating the negative impact of short sleep duration on obesity, either as a predisposing or aggravating factor. Objective: To evaluate short sleep duration and its negative impact on obesity. Methodology: An integrative literature review will be conducted from August 2021 to May 2023 using a survey of electronic data in PubMed and in the Virtual Health Library using the Health Science Descriptors (DeCS): "Metabolic", "Obesity" and "Sleep", together with the Boolean connective AND. The research will be conducted based on the guiding question, "How can short sleep duration negatively impact obesity?" Expected results: It is expected that the opinions presented in this study will contribute to a better clarification of the information covering the negative impact that short sleep duration can generate on the development and persistence of obesity, to generate an alert to include improvement in the quality of sleep, with an adequate duration, as one of the ways to help in the prevention and treatment of obesity.
