The transparency of public data is guaranteed by the Brazilian Constitution, seen as a duty of public administration in terms of publicity and as a right of the citizens. Thus, the Access to Information Law emerged, with the role of regulating the publicity of public data and disciplining transparency portals, understood as a major advance for Brazilian society. Based on the aspects in question, this article seeks to understand the impact of the Access to Information Law, to understand how transparency portals are relevant to the population, in addition to their contributions to citizenship and social control. In this context, the following question is elaborated: how can accountability through transparency portals contribute to social control and the exercise of citizenship? Thus, an exploratory research of bibliographic and documentary bases was used, carried out through the analysis of the current legislation in Brazil, transparency portals and specific literature, originating from books and scientific articles.
