In front of the COVID-19 pandemic, the face-to-face activities of educational institutions were suspended, and thus the discussion about the implementation of the Emergency Remote Education (ERE) arose. Considering the training of nursing technicians and nurses has particularities, such as practical classes, it was observed that it is important to debate the reflections of the ERE in their respective courses. Objective: To share the experience of nursing students during a licensed internship, where it was executed on a technical nursing course during the ERE period, to discuss the potential and weaknesses observed in this emergencial strategy on the formation of those professionals. Methodology: This is an experience report, developed by academics from the eighth period of the Bachelor and Licentiate Degree in Nursing from a federal university in the southern region of Brazil, through the discipline of “Teaching Practice in Nursing Education”, during August to November 2020. Results: After the experience, potentialities (increased methodological possibilities and ease of transportation) and weaknesses (impairment on the development of an attentive look at the student, strengthening of inequalities, and impact on teaching quality) were listed. Conclusion: Therefore, even that the undergraduates have passed the Teaching Practice discipline and are qualified, it is necessary to think about how the ERE weakens the learning of students in the technical nursing course, and subsequently it may result in weaknesses in the health care, putting patients' lives at risk.
