Training session regarding User Embracement on Primary Health Care: an experience report

Abstract

User Embracement is a lightweight technology created to facilitate users access to the service and qualify care. It should be performed by all the professionals in a health unit, but doubts about how to perform it properly are common. In that regard, it’s important that there are constant moments of continuing education. The objective of this article was to describe the implementation of a training session regarding User Embracement on Primary Health Care (PHC). This is a descriptive and qualitative study, an experience report based on the experiences of members of a nursing board carried out based on the Methodology of Problematization with the Maguerez Arc. The five stages of the Maguerez Arc were carried out, in which it was observed the problem situation regarding the doubt of the realization of the user embracement by the nursing technician; then the key-points were raised and theorized; as a hypothesis of solution the elaboration of a training course for multipliers came up; and finally, the application to reality stage involved 44 participants from different PHC sectors. At the end of the study, it was possible to perceive that divergences of the understanding of the professionals regarding User Embracement can harm its proper execution and that moments of instruction and dialogue have the potential to alleviate these doubts. Therefore, it is interesting to develop materials and tools that can facilitate the user embracement process, as well as other moments of continuing education, aiming to improve the quality of care offered to the population.
