Cardiovascular diseases are a conditions group that affect the cardiovascular system. The objective of this research was to outline the hospital morbidity profile to acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Secondary data information referring to hospital morbidity due to AMI registered in the SUS Hospital Information System was used, considering the Health Paraíba Macro-regions: João Pessoa; Campina Grande and Sertão/Alto Sertão. No statistically significant associations were observed between sex and age in relation to hospitalizations by macro-region. Epidemiological data is a good way to trigger public agencies to promote health strategies.
