Abstract

Introduction: Availability and consumption conditions show that there is a deficiency of water resources in much of the country, notably in the northeastern semi-arid region. Objective: To analyze the occurrence of waterborne diseases and correlate with monthly and annual rainfall events in the municipality of Cajazeiras - PB, in the Rio do Peixe watershed. Methods: This is a retrospective and documentary study of quantitative analysis of data from confirmed cases of monthly and annual rainfall, in the AESA database, as well as the use of the SIVEP-DDA database, among 2015 to 2020, at the Health Department in the city of Cajazeiras - PB. Results: Regarding the monthly and annual rainfall data, a higher concentration of rain was obtained between the months of January and June, with higher occurrences from February to April. In the case of Dengue, the city has the highest number of cases in men, varying by year in a representative way. However, in relation to Chikungunya, there was a correlation with Dengue, in the period of 2016, with a positive correlation, possibly due to the fact that the transmitting mosquito is of the same species, which may indicate that in the year in which the occurrence of these mosquitoes is observed, it may have been high in the municipality. Conclusion: It was possible to observe, through the analysis of cases of diarrhea occurring in the years studied, the high number of cases throughout the year, with emphasis on the rainiest months for the region, which may present the risks of parasites linked to these types of infections. .
