In all ages groups evaluated were registraded deaths by breast cancer, with higher incidence in women aged 50 to 59 years and in men aged 60 to 69. With the exception of the Midwest region, in the other Brazilian regions, in both sexes, the lowest death rate occurred among individuals who studied 12 years or more. The largest number of mammograms was performed in the Southeast region.
