Medicamentos a base de plantas: ventajas y desventajas de su uso

Resumen

El uso de plantas medicinales está bastante extendido en la actualidad, siendo popular como una forma de medicina complementaria y alternativa en los países más desarrollados, mientras que las hierbas medicinales son drogas sintéticas, actuando tanto sobre el organismo humano como animal debido a los químicos que contienen, responsables de las actividades. A pesar de los numerosos beneficios de la aplicación de la medicina herbal en la medicina complementaria en muchos países, todavía hay mucho debate sobre los beneficios frente a los eventos adversos asociados con las aplicaciones de la medicina herbal, y se estima que se han reportado muy pocos eventos no deseados que han ocurrido. Por lo tanto, nuestro objetivo fue investigar los efectos adversos y beneficios del uso de medicamentos derivados de plantas. Farmacológico. El presente estudio es una revisión exploratoria de tipo bibliográfico. Se utilizaron las bases de datos de la BVS, que incluyeron LILACS, MEDLINE, IBECS, BDENF y CINAHL, Cochrane Library, SciELO, PubMed y Google Scholar. Se seleccionaron los siguientes descriptores: "Fármacos Fitoterapéuticos" Y "Efectos Secundarios y Reacciones Adversas Relacionados con Fármacos" Y "Seguridad". La OMS estima que más del 80% de la población mundial depende actualmente de las modalidades de curación tradicionales y a base de hierbas para la atención primaria de la salud y el bienestar. En la actualidad, existen miles de medicamentos a base de hierbas con numerosos beneficios, como los productos vegetales sintéticos y naturales con propiedades antioxidantes que se están explorando como posibles tratamientos para enfermedades neurodegenerativas. Por lo tanto, se debe tener precaución con su uso, ya que todavía existen numerosos problemas asociados con la seguridad, incluida la calidad del producto, las malas prácticas, las interacciones, los contaminantes y las toxicidades.
