Objective: To conduct an educational intervention on Tuberculosis for the Community Health Workers (ACS) of a Primary Health Care Unit. Method: This qualitative study is based on the assumptions of action research. An educational workshop on Tuberculosis was followed by a questionnaire and conversation circle. Results: The questionnaire results evidence that the ACS master the topic of transmission modes, signs and symptoms, latent infection, treatment and contacts. A discrepancy in prior knowledge was identified among the participants in the other topics, and the areas with the greatest difficulty in knowledge were regarding definition and etiology, transmission mode, main symptom, diagnosis, and directly observed treatment. The results after the educational workshop show a significant improvement concerning ACS knowledge. Final considerations: The activity developed achieved the desired effect and underscores that educational actions are effective and should be conducted periodically.
