Sequelas crônicas da chikungunya no contexto endêmico local: relato de experiência em estratégia de saúde da família seguindo o Arco de Maguerez

Abstract

Chikungunya is an arboviral disease with the potential to cause outbreaks and epidemics, in addition to causing negative repercussions on the health of the population. Thus, considering that the disease can cause sequelae that affect occupation, social life and functionality, the present study aims to report the experience of medical assistance to patients affected by the virus and understand the repercussions of chronic sequelae in daily life, as well as how to highlight the role of the primary health sector. This is a descriptive, qualitative study, of the experience report type, with subjective reflections based on the experiences of a resident physician in a Family Health Strategy in the municipality of Santa Luzia-PB. It was evident that the persistent sequelae resulting from chikungunya are joint and musculoskeletal pain, and these have an impact on daily life, such as: limitation of daily activities; reduced productivity at work; stress and anxiety. Therefore, the joint action of forms of prevention and recovery of health is essential, in order to reduce the magnitude of epidemics and health problems. For this, Primary Health Care is based on multidisciplinary action capable of encouraging the community to change habits that are favorable to quality of life.
